This one’s gonna be juicy. One of the biggest things that we solve here at Her HQ is helping done for you, service providers create offers that they love, that they’re obsessed with, AND that their ideal customer wants, needs, and will pay for.
Without that combination you’re gonna be unhappy, frustrated, and ultimately… not making the money that you want to make.
We as service providers, quite frankly, are the worst at creating offers that we think are really great idea, but not actually taking that idea and confirming it with our ideal customer before we build the offer.
We spend so much time creating the backend systems, creating the different pages, the different forms, the different payment options…. we literally build the entire service out to completion before we ever go and get validation from the ideal customer to make sure that they will actually pay for this thing.
What ends up happening, you ask? Most often we don’t sell it, right? Nobody signs. No one raises their hand. And then, you’re left feeling really down, defeated, and just overwhelmed at the fact that you spent all of that time, energy, and sometimes money to create this offer that you know, is a game changer and that, you know, would completely transform their business, but that the ideal customer doesn’t see the value and therefore they are not willing to pay for it.
Now I want to share something that hopefully will change your perspective on things… Your business does involve you, but has been created for other people.
Let’s repeat that, your business involves you, but is created for other people; that is the function of a business. Businesses exist because they solve a problem that a customer is aware that they have and they are willing to pay for a solution.
If you do not have that end part of that equation, that you’re solving a problem that a customer is aware of and that they’re willing to pay for you. Quite frankly, you don’t have a business. All right. So the services you offer have to be wanted by people. If not, it’s a great idea that will generate no money.
As someone who has created many things in the past, based on what I thought was a great idea and not what the market actually told me, I’ve learned the hard way. And I am here to share with you that I do not want you to build something and then try to sell it. I want you to sell something and then build it.
That is the entire premise behind creating your own business is you have to be able to sell it in order to justify building it.
Now, how do you do that? The answer is market research. All right, what does market research actually mean?
This is not about going out and asking people what their favorite Starbucks drink is. If they go to Target three times a week, or what show they watch at night?
When you run an online business, like we do here, you aren’t solving ‘people problems’. You are solving business owners problems.
When you are looking at, recommendations on finding more about your ideal customer, and they’re telling you to go ask them personal questions, that is market research forr B2C. Business to consumer.
Here in the online space, we are B2B; business to business type offers. Meaning, you need to be asking them questions about their business goals, their business drivers, what kind of financial goals they want to hit. And, what barriers do they have in the way of accomplishing those goals?
That right there, that intersection is where the magic happens.
Then you need to look at your skillset and identify, how can I tie in the skills and experience that I have to fix those problems, the intersection of that piece, there, their problem and your skill.
That is where your service comes in.
Okay. So I love you. If we haven’t met, I still love you. We’re gonna meet each other soon. I will tell you the biggest mistake you can make as you were trying to really craft your business and make this thing scale is to assume, you know what your customers want and are willing to pay for, to press forward with creating that without ever getting the validation.
And then therefore, you’re going to spin your wheels. You’re going to get burnout and you’re going to get really defeated.
If you want guidance and assistance on how to dig in to doing proper market work research, to get the true validation, to move forward with a service you were trying to sell, click this link here to learn more about how our Foundations program has been created to do that exact thing with you.
